CV
Born in 1994 in Athens, Odysseas moved to Bavaria at the age of seven and a half as a half-Greek, half-German. Since 2007, he owned his own video camera, allowing him to delve into his early short film projects and undertake assignments such as documenting museum exhibitions or theatrical performances.
Simultaneously, he received professional acting lessons. From the age of 14, he portrayed the Little Prince on stage, gaining firsthand experience of the actor's process—a valuable asset in his later role as a director. Smaller TV roles and significant parts in student films expanded his horizon.
Experiments marked his path: 3D recordings since 2010, chemical film, stop-motion, and spatial computer animation since 2009. Internships at a photo shop, UFA Fiction, and insights behind the scenes of Bavarian Television enhanced his practical approach to the medium.
The relocation to Berlin in 2014 marked a new chapter—graduation, diverse assignments from music videos to collaborations with THW, the German Red Cross, and Fairtrade. Joining film crews for "Dark" and "The Collini Case" brought valuable experiences, followed by commercial shoots for Armani, Nike, and Hollywood projects like "John Wick" and "The Hunger Games."
The decision to study directing at DEKRA Academy was made in 2019. Odysseas focused on acting direction, film studies, and dramaturgy. In 2023, he successfully completed his studies. His bachelor thesis at SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences led to an inspiring interview with renowned film director Tom Tykwer. In it, Tykwer provided valuable insights into working with actors and adapting literature for film. Since his graduation, Mr. Hlepas has worked as a director and cinematographer for Charité, Voi, and Amazon Prime.
